Welcome back to my blog! Hope you are all having a wonderful week. This week I wanted to share with you my updated version of my introductory blog post video that I created.
The goal of the updated video was to use many of the interactive multimedia tools and improve the overall content in the video. This time I used a video editor tool to stitch together some pictures and videos of content that I wanted to include in my video. I also used screencasting from screencastify which has turned out to be one of my favourite multimedia tools that I have explored this term. I uploaded the video on Youtube Creator space so it can be more accessible to people everywhere not only on my blog site. It also has close captioning feature which I think is important.
In this video I also incooperated not only my introduction but also delved into what my reasearch focuses on and how using and trying out new AI tools have expanded my knowledge on interactive and multimedia sources being intergrated into education. I hope that the listener can understand what benefits and limitations that AI technology holds.
In my first video I talked about myself and incooperated personal photos as well. This time I filmed myself talking as well as including a voice over part as well. I thought it was effective to include some personal photos so I still kept it but I also included some pictures which I thought was relevent to what I was talking about.
I really wanted to be more inclusive towards students with disabilities and one of the things that I felt like I missed the mark on with the video component was recognizing exclusion as Kat Holmes mentions in her study. By being able to recognize this I knew that this time I wanted to incoperate a close captioning video platform. Youtube also lets the user pause, rewind, fast foward and rewind features that are useful and accesible. I also tried to use pictures relevant to what I was taking about.
Furthermore, I tried more storytelling approach to my video this time. While I tried to make the video flow better I found it quite hard to keep it that way and tend to use filler words such as “um”and “like” which did bother me. Next time I would also like to improve on that.
One of the things I kept in mind was Modality. I often feel like when I see a powerpoint filled with words it does not help with retaining any information therefore, like last time I did not include any texts. I think it also helps to find pictures that are intresting and fun to look at. I feel like I could yet again improve on finding better quality pictures that related to the voice over portion of my video.
In my experience I think that video editing and recording is something that needs some practice and refinement until I can get it to where I feel satisfied. The more I can practice these multimedia tools and become comfortable with using it the more effective it will be. The TPACK model can also help with making sure to implement the right media and technology into learning enviroments.
