Reflection Question Week 1

Which principles did you have in mind when you were creating your screencast this week?

Some principles I had in mind was the redundency principle by finding photos that would go with what I was talking about and just giving a bit of context behind each photo and also introducing myself through that. I personally love seeing photos and graphics that goes with the topic as well. Since it was just a introduction about myself I wanted to keep it short and simple so the viewer got to know me a bit more.

Of all the principles of Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning we looked at this week, which seem intuitive to you?

I think that all principles were really important to my learning. Mayer highlights that understadning how we learn and how to effectively deliver the material is the key to better learning for everyone. I do think that Active Processing has been such a big part of my daily life and learning since I am billingual I am doubling the amount of language and interpretations in my mind. Sometimes I find it intresting that there are some words in the english language that I cannot explain clearly in japanese and vice versa japanese to english.

Extraneuos load was also mentioned in the reading and I really do find it intuitive to my learning process. When the pandemic hit and school went online I found it hard to learn because of the delievery method of classes. I think online classes got a bad reputation becuase of this. However when I took my first class where classes were organized and well structured included more interactive activities and some grpahics to go along with the text and lecture material it helped tremendously. I do think online learning is underrated and it can be developed to be a better structure by using and exploring multimedia sources.
